This statistic is hard to believe but it’s absolutely true. According to the American Podiatric Medical Association nearly three out of four people will develop debilitating foot pain at some point during their life.
The foot is made up of 26 bones arranged into 4 arches and is held together by ligaments. Foot pain is often the result of a misalignment of one or more of those 26 foot bones. When the bones of the foot lose their healthy alignment it can cause pressure and stress on nearby nerves, soft tissues such as muscles, tendons and ligaments, and the joint spaces between the bones.
Misalignment of the bones in the feet, are usually the result of abnormal stress to the feet. Think about the activities you participate in on a routine basis. If those activities involve the excessive or strenuous use of your feet then you are likely a candidate for developing a foot problem which could lead to pain.
The good news is that most foot problems are correctable without surgery. Gentle chiropractic adjustments to the 26 foot bones can realign the misaligned bones which will improve foot flexibility, range of motion and will remove the stress from nerves, soft tissues and the joints of the feet.
Here at Chiropractic Hand & Foot Clinics Of America we have taken a vast interest in helping doctors to correct their patients’ foot problems. This is rather unique in that most chiropractors focus primarily on adjusting the spine and not the extremities. However we believe that the feet are equally important to correct when there is a misalignment or a loss of healthy function. If you are experiencing stress, stiffness or pain in your feet, feel free to consult with one of our doctors of chiropractic.
